The children's author David Walliams dropped by longtime publisher.

The comedian

Acclaimed young adult author and TV personality David Walliams has parted ways with his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

A representative for the publisher stated: "Upon deliberation, and following the appointment of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing additional books by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the move was made after an inquiry regarding allegations of questionable actions towards women.

The firm did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, noting: "We refrain from speaking about internal matters."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, with sales exceeding more than 60 million copies worldwide in dozens of tongues.

His first children's book, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins back in 2008.

A number of his works, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

To date, he has released over four dozen titles in total, including a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins last autumn.

From Screen to Page

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for charity and the arts.

This development follows the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO in October.
