Performer Denies Anti-Vaxxer Stance After Voicing Contentious Coronavirus Feature
The acclaimed actor has lent his vocal talents to a recent film that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and praises former cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Feature's Provocative Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication written by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for allegations that the illness was linked to a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
Her writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. He wrote online praising Neeson's role in the film.
A Strong Rebuttal
A spokesperson for the actor have issued a statement pushing back against claims that he supports anti-vax beliefs.
"We all acknowledge that corruption might be present within the medical sector, but that must not be equated to rejection of vaccines," the statement reads. "Liam has never been, and is not, against vaccines. His long work with the UN children's agency highlights his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement noted that the actor had no hand in the documentary's editorial content and that inquiries about its content ought to go to the producers.
Major Assertions In the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several provocative statements:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It posits that "research has become dangerously politicised."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they just aren't safely tested."
- It further attacks pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused mental anguish that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Background and Current Debates
The film further cites a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the topic of a BBC apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, Kennedy instructed the national health agency to alter its official position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This claim is echoed in the documentary, even with a new report from the WHO confirming no connection has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the film's message, Neeson has formerly shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
"Plague of Corruption" finishes with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This marks not the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a new chapter."
