Wardley turns 31 in December, and he said: “It's a huge evening for the two of us. It is clearly the most significant bout of my boxing journey and the greatest challenge I've faced. But each time I rise to the occasion I excel under pressure. The upcoming fight will be no different. The separation between where Joe is and where people think I am has been a common theme during my entire career.

“He has been going around the block for a extended duration, with a lot of fights on his record. By no means is he an aged fighter but he has been in the sport for a while and had several tough bouts. I too have faced intense battles and I realize they cause wear and tear. He has been in a far greater number of those compared to me.”
