Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, adding that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade

The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
