Democratic officials demonstrated outrage after the ex-president alleged a contingent of Democratic representatives of being "betrayers" and asserted they should be arrested and sentenced "by death" following their posting of a disputed video.

The Recording That Provoked the Controversy

The recorded message, published on earlier this week, includes six Democratic congress members who in the past acted in defense or security positions.

"Similar to us, you all swore an oath to safeguard and uphold this national charter," the representatives declared in the 90-second video. "Currently, the risks to our governing document are not only from overseas, but from domestically. Our regulations are explicit, you can decline improper directives, you can reject improper directives, you must decline unlawful commands. No one has to carry out orders that contravene the legal system or our national charter."

The Former President's Incensed Response

The clip reportedly provoke a furious response from the former president.

On Thursday morning, Trump published on his preferred platform: "This represents SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our United States should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In a subsequent post, he stated: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, subject to punishment by DEATH!" He also redistributed a statement that read: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Party Officials React

Following Trump's remarks on that day, Top Democrats published a joint declaration condemning the statements.

"Violent politics has no position in America," they declared. "Elected officials who were featured in the video all acted our country with great national pride and distinction. We clearly censure Donald Trump's disgusting and dangerous threats of violence against elected officials, and urge House Republicans to vigorously do the same."

The opposition officials also said that they had been in contact with law enforcement "to ensure the security of these representatives and their loved ones."

"Donald Trump must immediately take down these radical social media posts and withdraw his dangerous language before he causes harm," the declaration continued.

Representatives' Strong Reaction

The lawmakers who were featured in the video also published a declaration.

"We identify as ex-military personnel and national security professionals who value this nation and swore an vow to safeguard and support the constitution of the United States," they said. "This commitment is permanent, and we aim to maintain it. No warning, intimidation, or call for violence will stop us from that important duty."

"The significant point is that the ex-president considers it punishable by capital punishment for us to restate the law," they stated. "Military personnel should understand that we have their protection as they execute their pledge to the national charter and duty to obey only lawful orders. It is not only the proper thing to do, but also our responsibility."

They continued: "All citizens must join forces and denounce the ex-president's calls for our death and ideological conflict. This is a period for principled stance."

Further Political Reactions

The Senate Democratic leader also denounced Trump's comments and published on digital platforms: "Let's be crystal clear: the President of the United States is calling for the death of elected officials."

He continued: "This constitutes an direct THREAT. Every Senator, every Representative, every American – without partisan consideration – should censure this immediately and without qualification."

The Conservative official defended Trump's allegation that the Democrats had engaged in "rebellion", characterizing the video as "extremely improper", adding: "This represents very harmful, you have prominent officials of the government advising troops to ignore directives, I think that is historic in the nation's past."
