Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have ânothing more to add at this timeâ.
Allegations Posted on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
