Barça to Host Historic Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league 30 months since relocating for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
