Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
âJoshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,â the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.â
